Summary: Star light, star bright
Star light, star bright includes three feature fiction stories, as well as true stories and poetry. The feature stories include Hello and goodbye (written by Robert Welber) and The Little Red Hen (written by Veronica S. Hutchinson). Essentially this is a textbook teaching word recognition, reading comprehension, phonics, and how to make sequential connections. Feature stories include activities and question/answer type exercises. My preschooler likes this book because of the colored pictures. My second grader likes learning about orange juice coming from orange trees and how it gets to the stores. The bright illustrations turn an otherwise ordinary, learn-by-rote textbook into an interactive learning experience. I recommend this oldie but goodie for preschoolers through Grade Two.
